An Important Question

"The best things in life are gifts from the One who steadfastly loves us. But an important question to ask ourselves is this: Are we in love with God or just His stuff?"
Francis Chan, Crazy Love

Holy Saturday

Today is Holy Saturday. It is also known as Black Saturday; it is the last day of preparation during Holy Week

Almost two thousand years ago Jesus Christ was crucified on Good Friday. Jesus' followers must have felt so lost. He had suffered and died in front of them, and many did not yet believe all that he had told them.

But still, they must have wondered. Could it be true? Is He the Son of God?

And so on this somber day we wait as well.

If We Are The Body...

"As believers in Christ, we are incomplete without the rest of his body--the church. And the church is incomplete without us."

God Wants Us

"We live lives of private defeat, but God wants to renew our hearts and minds and to send us into his world as lights shining in the darkness."

Ma Famille

The past three days were filled with variations of family, and it has me thinking about priorities.

As a child of divorce (and successful remarriages) my family is fluid; my immediate family is large, and my extended family is larger still. Our busy lives get in the way of spending time together, but like many families we have a mysterious bond.

I want family to be a higher priority in my life.

It feels like home.

To Love Another

“It is by loving, and not by being loved, that one can come nearest the soul of another; yea, that, where two love, it is the loving of each other, that originates and perfects and assures their blessedness."

With Eyes of a Child

"When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty, I read them openly. When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."

The Bright Side

1. Matt and I brought our cat Misty home last week. I am happy to say her transition went better than I anticipated.

2. I had an unexpected day off on Sunday. Matt and I slept in, had pancakes, went to an evening church service, and did P90X Yoga. It was a treat to spend a day off with Matt, and I am still feeling relaxed.

3. I am tweaking my blog design again. Most notably, I have added a navigation bar including About Me, DIY and Tutorials, Find Me, and a link to With Eyes Lifted, my Etsy shop (which I plan to restock soon). I also cleaned up my sidebar widgets.
