Family Emergency

Dear Readers,

Matt and I have been busy with a family emergency this past week. I foresee it being at least another week or two before I will start blogging again.

Your thoughts and prayers are welcome during this time.

Thank you for your understanding.

July Fourth Weekend

Vacation has been a wonderful combination of relaxation and fun. Matt and I spent four days in Ludington with my family. We saw fireworks on the beach, ate grilled food, rode bikes, and enjoyed the sun on the beach and in a pool.

Here are a few vacation photos I uploaded to my Instagram:

Home away from home.

Morning birdsong.

Waiting for dusk.

Sargent Sands.

Clear waters.

And a couple from my sister Jeannine's Instagram:

Champagne on the beach!

I have a knack for not looking at the camera.

The best part is I don't return to work until Thursday so I have a few more days to relax.

How was your July Fourth?

Slowing Down

I have officially transfered, and I am working parttime. Although I am not on the road as much as before, I feel just as busy. I am finishing things I have put off (like my thank you cards) and I am slowly organizing the house. I cannot afford to drive my car much for the next six months, so by default my life will have to slow down.

Here are a few things keeping me busy:

1. Saturday marked our six month anniversary. Matt and I watched Arsenal beat Aston Villa while we ate breakfast at Los Tres Amigos. They have the best coffee!

After breakfast I fell asleep on the couch. Then Matt took a nap. Afterwards we ate a late dinner at Giglio's.

Yes, we're an old, married couple.

2. As I have mentioned it has be unseasonably warm in Michigan. On Sunday Matt and I met family at John Ball Zoo in Grand Rapids.

For some reason the only picture I took was of the flamingos.

Now we want to go to Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek, but we're going to have to wait for favorable weather.

3. I am almost done knitting a mystery project.

Stay tuned for details.

I am still adjusting to parttime. My supervisor called to ask if I could work tonight. I was confused until I remembered I can pick up shifts now.

I could get used to this.

Ma Famille

The past three days were filled with variations of family, and it has me thinking about priorities.

As a child of divorce (and successful remarriages) my family is fluid; my immediate family is large, and my extended family is larger still. Our busy lives get in the way of spending time together, but like many families we have a mysterious bond.

I want family to be a higher priority in my life.

It feels like home.

Power Outage

When I got home from work the power was out. My husband and parents were playing cards, so I sat down and learned a game I had never played before.

Life slows down when the electricity is gone. Much of the time I unwind in front of the computer, but tonight I took the spent time with my family.

Sometimes a power outage can be a blessing.

What is your favorite activity when you are without electricity?

A Thankful Thanksgiving

1. Family. With a retail schedule, I truly appreciate the time I get to spend with them.
2. Food on the table. If you go to bed hungry in my house, you have chosen to not eat. Not everyone can say that.
3. Matt and I married two months ago today! If all goes well, we will be moving into our first house in the beginning of the new year.

It has been a year of positive changes. With so many without, I am thankful for the blessings God has given me.

Wedding Weekend

I apologize for my absence; I spent the weekend in Ludington for my sister's wedding. Regular posts will resume tomorrow. Until then, here is a picture of myself (far left) and my sisters Jeannine and Cait.
