It's the season to think positive. Here are a few things I am thankful for:
1. Family: I am thankful for both of my thanksgivings. It is rare to see my extended family, and I cherish every moment.
2. My new job: I no longer work retail, and I am excited for the holidays. I encourage you to thank the person behind the counter this holiday season.
3. Being: I am happy that I am less stressful. I am reading more, crafting more, and I am discovering my interests can lead me to a career.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Three Day Weekend
Retail workers rarely get to enjoy the holidays. Libraries are not open on most bank holidays, so this weekend was my first Memorial day weekend off in twelve years. I spent time with friends and family, took several long walks, ate far too much food, and bought a new couch.
In short, it was amazing.

Valentine Hearts
St. Valentine's Day is only a week away. Instead of buying into the commercialization of the holiday, you should take the time to knit or crochet one of these free patterns for a handmade gift from the heart.

Behold! With Eyes Lifted has a new product line: Crocheted Star Garlands.

Meant to be displayed over a mantle or doorway, the garlands are approximately 6 feet long and are available in two colors: silver and gold. They are hand-crocheted in cotton with an original pattern.

Dimondale Holiday Craft Show 2009
I participated in my first craft show with CraftedClay on November 20th and 21st in Dimondale, Michigan.

The first day was damp, overcast and generally nasty. I spent much of the day in front of the fireplace sipping wassail (spiced hot cider) which my host's husband made over the stove. It was delicious and the perfect beverage for such a day.

We saw more foot traffic on Saturday. The weather cleared and everyone agreed it was a beautiful fall day, especially for Michigan.

I went with no expectations, but the experience was exciting and I cannot wait to repeat it! Although I did not have the massive sales all crafters dream of, I did manage to sell several items. I passed out business cards, and hopefully this will help word-of-mouth advertising.
